Thanksgiving this year was a little bit different. Normally my mom has everyone over and we do a huge Thanksgiving. Instead of that, this year my Aunt Eleta hosted a fantastic dinner. The crowd was largely of the Hutton family, but myself, Mom, Dad, and Jerry and Monica and Nick were all there as well. My wife spent the holiday with her parents this year, we missed her :(.
At any rate, the dinner was great. We had all the usual stuff: Turkey, Ham, Green Bean Casserole, Deviled Eggs, Sweet Potatoes (Fixed the way grandma used to...so good), and someone made these incredible sourdough dinner rolls (*grin*), just to name a few.
When dinner was ready, we all gathered around to say a prayer, and voice our thanks. This year, my brother Darrin wrote a poem that i want to share with you because it was so incredible.
Today I am thankful,
For the life I’ve led,
Had good times and bad times,
Think of tears I shed,
Look at all the beauty,
The golden leaves as they fall,
Family and friends coming over,
We make room for all,
Family and friends gather,
On this Thanksgiving day,
We remember our blessings,
Remember the old ways,
We say our prayers,
Thankful for what we have got,
Remember family that passed on,
Think of them a lot,
Dad carves the turkey,
As the kids play,
Mom sets the table,
Reads poems of yesterday,
Dad talks about country,
Thanks the land for our living,
We then raise our glass and toast,
To all Happy Thanksgiving…

Well said, Darrin. We missed you there, but this brought you to us in spirit.
In summary, I am so damn thankful for everything we have. All the sacrifices mom and dad made to give us what we needed over the years. All the great memories we have of Thanksgivings past and all the great ones still to come.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I love you all.
